no regrets - life example #2

On Saturday, I was once again reminded of not just the importance, but the urgency of living with no regrets.

An acquaintance of mine, Josh Eddy, who lived a few hours away was hiking with friends on Saturday when he fell into the Rogue River rapids. They haven’t yet found his body. It was just unthinkable for so many of us that this could even be happening. That someone who had been such a foundation, such an inspiration, and such an encouragement would be gone. But most of all, I am reminded once more than the number of our days is unknown. All we know is that our days are indeed limited. Josh was embracing life, yet he was ready for the time Jesus would call him home. Are you?

Don’t regret never having made that eternally important decision to follow Jesus. Don’t regret never having shared that salvation with someone else. Don’t regret having wasted a precious day.

As Mr. Brazell reminded us, “Life is short whether we have 19 years or 80.”

definitely made me think. and I pray it will change the way I live. let’s make the devil angry.

no regrets - life example #1

Today, I was inspired by the idea of “no regrets” to do a little thing. Life is busy right now, I’m preparing for the English and Spanish AP Exams next week, finishing up my senior year, finished the TeenPact state class season, and adopting two new, permanent members of our family: Destiny and Jasmine! This morning, as I sat to study for a final I have to take today, Jasmine came up next to me with a little mosaic project. She was certain that it was too hard for her to accomplish, and sat dejectedly next to me. While it was totally within my rights to give an encouraging word and keep studying (and it might have been a smarter decision), something reminded me right then of that phrase, “no regrets.” So I simply closed the laptop, said, “hey, let’s do this together,” and we began. It was just a few minutes, and I felt so fulfilled and rewarded that the necessary studying was dim in comparison.

If you have an experience to share in which the idea of “no regrets” inspired you, email me at bennett.for.senate.2012@gmail.com.
